I have also not received the 45 Day Letter Yet.

Couple of weeks ago my HR sent me a screen shot and most of the data in the screen shot was missing. Last week they called DBEC and the person from DOL said they can't give the details and we need to wait as my case will be coming up soon. Lot of my firends you have PD's much later than me have already received the 45 day letter. I am not sure what is going on with my case.
Is anyone from MI state in the same boat...?

Immigration was not a concern in the midterm poll. The GOP Congress would never look into this issue in Lame duck. This will be passed on to the next congress. People believing that this is the only time for the GOP to sign off a bill that they like with all enforcements is slim.
Until President Bush pushes this issue to be definitly pass bill we cannot expect something this year or in the comming years.

I have no reason to believe this is accurate. I cannot imagine the USCIS would move forward in that manner, as it would clearly result in a lawsuit which would have much more merit than the lawsuit would have had if they simply continued to rely upon the bulletin issued on July 2 that made everything unavailable. This would be completely foolish from a litigation standpoint, and as a result I am very suspect of this rumor.

Couldn't agree with you more... I am just attributing imv116`s post to ignorance about the whole polytechnic + 3Yr B.Tech degree course of study.
On a side note I am assuming the associate degree given by colleges in the US is the equivalent of the diploma issued in India. So I am sure any educational evaluation agency would not have any issues with declaring Polytechnic + 3Yr B.Tech the equivalent of a 4 Yr B.Tech.

To me, whoever doesn't clear an entrance exam in India doesn't deserve to be awarded a regular B.Tech degree. That would rule out all of Maharashtra colleges. (In mid 90's .Maharashtra was only state in India which would give admission on merit basis,whereas in Rest of India ,even if you get 97% in CBSE, you are not eligible for BE degree anywhere)
Some one from IIT/MIT/Harvard would rule out everybody who has not done a BE from these premier institutes.
But of course, my biases and personal prejudices irrelevant while answering some one's questions.When we enter professional life, only thing which matters is technical and communication skills.
There are better programmer from 3 yr B.Sc + NIIT Diploma pool than some one from IIT Mechanical Engg pool.

I do have a question. Let's say Company A has a contract to build a very complex forecasting system. This company wants to get a Math Ph.d from a foreign country, because the contract it has got involves very specialized skill not found anywhere in US. However this person is under contract to his/her company and cannot accept outside independent employment. Company A which is the contractor is forced to sign a contract with the person's company.
The person needs to be onsite to interview the Business Stakeholders to model the rules correctly.
Per Durbin's rule, there's no way Company A can complete the contract.
Rules need to be enforced uniformly and CIS in it's bureaucratic haze does a brilliant job of being blind to a person's need or qualifications.
This is a rarity, but I do concur with my anti-desi consulting companies colleagues that the norm is to get a very average techie. However your behavior is no different than the NumbersUSA or Prog Guild fanatics/whiners and it reeks of "Let me in and shut the door".
Yes immigration needs a boundary, but why isn't anybody doing anything about green card lottery where a high school passout with access to the Internet can get a green card or the humongous family based immigration route better used to staff 711/Dunkin Donuts than truly reuniting families.

spicy guy, which service center did you apply? if its texas, you are cool, u should get ur AP within 15-30 days max. I have travel in the third week of november and I applied for renewal in Nebraska and my RD for this is August 6th. I am not very optimistic. Cos, per the website, its taking anywhere between 95-150 days these days for AP renewal in NE.

Effective date will indeed be Oct 2008 (if it becomes a law that is). So if your GC process is OVER before then, you'll not be affected by anything in this bill including the I-140 filing cut-off of May 21st 2007.
But if you don't have a GC on Oct 1st 2008, the law will check whether your I-140 had been filed by May 21st 2007, if not, all your approved & pending applications etc will go down the toilet, doesn't matter if you are a day away from approval on 10/01/2008. You start fresh and file a new merit based application.
Now bottoms up and get another beer. Then one more on me.
