so i understand how the whole 7% thing works now in relation to the total visa's available....
but what i dont get it the fact that EB3 ROW was at Aug 02 in april this year,
then in May it moved to AUG 03, so people were clearly getting through the system....
then in June it moved to June 05 so again in that month people where getting processed, and moving through the system....
then the July fiaco, i guess because they were running tight for visa numbers...ok water under the bridge.....
But now the Oct bullitin which is the start of the new fiscal year puts us back to AUG 02 again........how does that work??? i dont get it. how can they suddenly be dealing with people from 02 when even in May it was up to AUG 03???
I would have thought that with the start of a new fisacl year there would be a full fresh batch of numbers, and people would get through a bit quicker for a least a couple of months...you would have thought that it would be current for the first month on the new allotment....wouldnt you???

There is much info ont this board that explains why this happened? It has been posted and debated in much much detail. It boilds down to, visa numbers are allocated to each quarter. The visa quota year ends in September, so the run up to this was the last quarter of the year. Under mounting pressure a combination of the Department of State and the USCIS didn't want to be accused of wasting visa numbers again, so they pushed dates REALLY far forward to make sure they wouldn't.
That drama is now over and we return to the normal state of affairs.
Just because you are a Brit born and bred, don't think you'll get your visa any faster. IF your occupation does qualify you for an EB3 (Bachelors degree or experience equivalency) and you aren't in the states now on any kind of temprorary visa. What I don't understand is, if you aren't in the US now - what employer would sponsor someone for a greencard that won't arrive for about 6 years?

As far as I know, if one goes to UK on a work permit, the spouse can start working from the beginning itlsef. The professional and the spouse get their automatic PR in 4 years just by being there. There are similar examples in other countries, but, the fact is that if we have to be in the US, we have to go by "their rules".
I admire US administration's guts to openly admit and declare that they are biased and work on a case by case basis or at will when it comes to looking out for their own interests, even in the immigration (Not to mention, they look confused as well).
For example, how is a spouse of an L1 visa holder anyway different from a spouse of and H1 ? The difference is that the US government presents the L2 spouses with an EAD at arrival and restricts the H4 spouses to home.
Well, I think we should take one thing at a time, and the current task in hand at IV is more than enough to comprehend and fight for, adding the H4 issue eventually may add value, but not at this juncture.

i-140 has been previoulsy approved. I was laid off but my original employer agreed to give me evl, but with the way the economy is going they are not doing well.
I have another employer which I am working now with.
How likely is to get an approval (or an rfe for paystubs?) before 180 days.

If the media holds Obama to the same standard as they do the republicans, you will see the democrats crumbling faster than a cookie.
There is so much hypocrisy in the media. If women vote for Sarah Palin it is wrong because you voting her just because of his gender. But oh, if you are black and dont vote Obama, then you are the most odious person living in this world. How will you explain your kids that you did not support a black person for presidency? This kind of duplicity is keeping Obama look good in the eyes of people. Throw off your goggles and you will see the same issues with Obama that you see with Sarah.
Also, so many low intensity criminals are asked to do community service, that does not qualify them to become the president of US. And what happened to his moral fiber when he changed his opposition to the telco immunity bill and voted so that he does not look bad on security issues? Well, If you sign up for IV credit card, the contributor is not paying from his pocket. It's the bank, who is paying for him, and contributor will keep earning miles/reward point as with any other credit card so it should make ZERO difference for card holder.
Its like finding a advertising sponsor for any of the IV event,except this is one time effort.
the earning could be huge. lets do simple math.
Average CC monthly bill = $1000 , 2% of $1000= $20.
20 * 20k = 40K monthly contribution.
Now think how hard is it to raise 40K monthly using our regular fund raising ?
Basic problem with fund raising is, once person gets his EAD/GC , he stops visiting IV website, I am sure he/she still supports the cause by heart but it just happens that he does not visit this site and does not notice our fund raising drive ( and as a result, we call them selfish :p) .
But if he is carrying IV credit card , its very easy for him to pick up that CC and swipe every time he makes purchase and support the cause.

I think that the best way to get media attention is to have own journalist.
It would be possible to have an Immigration Voice Daily (or Times). However I am to sure how difficult would be to have some one participating in presidential campaign debates and rallies as well press conferences and ask questions about legal immigration.

Include Sep approvals as well, they can’t use all the visas in the month of Aug it self, it never happened before (in fact they wasted thousands of visas by the end of the fiscal each year in the past). This is the first time they have determined (?) to use all the visas, don’t expect 100% success in the first attempt it self. The system has not been fine tuned yet to that level of success.
For Sep, the EB2 dates will remain same or might even move further few months. Oct bulletin will be the interesting one. If there are very little approvals during Aug & Sep, it will move back considerably. If there are so many approvals in the tune of 15-20k, then EB2 PD will go back slightly (say Jan 06) but will move forward at healthy rate. Come last quarter of 2008-09, there will be quantum leap again.
