barobar..pan...one of the reasons bills were easier to pass then was because there werent so many groups who would moblize resources to kill a bill. Even the suggestion of a small ammendment has hundreds from well supported groups calling the lawmakes. We dont stand a chance of competing with them or even making them understand our simple requirements all on our own. Currently the word 'amnesty' is enough to get everybodys blood boiling. Any immigration measure is sure to hijacked by the the extremist positions on both the sides. The result is that nothing will be passed. I dont expect anything different in 2009, no matter what the candidates say. if you look at the speeches they are all slowly hardening their positions. Not matter what you say Hispanics support groups are huge and have enormous clout, as is evident from both the candidates sucking up to the various groups.

I called FTD to make them aware of the large number of orders that have been placed for Emilio Gonzalez for July 10th. I have requested that a representative from FTD handle all these orders to make sure they are delivered. This is because a lot of people have used varying post codes, phone numbers etc. They are getting back to me with a point of contact from the Special Accounts department who will handle all our orders to make sure they are delivered. Will keep you all posted.

Colorado State Govt. considering this bill and have mejority in state republican and democrats to pass the law that will allow illigal immigrants to be eligible for in-state tuition.

Have been reading this thread with anguish. This is an important issue and needs to be taken up. Need to mention two points.
First, I have written to our Senator, more than a week ago. I know, I should have posted on this forum earlier...my bad!
Second, by way of information, let me also add that here in Georgia, children of legal immigrants get in-state tuition if a 485 has been filed for them. Both my children are paying in-state tuition only. However, this is available in state colleges only, it is evident. I had to submit pay stubs and a letter from employer in lieu of employment verification.

Now that we are out of retrogression lets focus on solving the the Name check black hole. According to 2007 Ombudsman report there are over 30,000 cases whose name check has been pending for more than 3 years.

I am not able to access donor forum. I had made donations in 2009, 2008. Could you tell me the reason for denying access?
IV has a lot of activity going on and it needs continuous flow of funds. One time contributions help but they just serve that one time. Our struggle is going to take a lot longer and once the momentum has gained, it gets very tough to slow down because of the lack of funds.

Hi, logiclife can you tell us if they issued receipt#/EAD for the application they received in late 2004 , dates retrogressed in Jan05, or the people had to wait for the availability of visa number inorder to receive there receipt?
yes, they issued EAD and AP for the applications they received until Dec 31/2004. yes, they haven't approved until the priority dates become current and that's a nobrainer.
Personally i know more than 100 people who were on EADs in 2005/2006 and even in 2007

That is exactly true. There is something fishy going on . Only for EB3-I the dates don't move forward whereas Mexico etc have many more cases than us. It is as if USCIS does not want to give GC's to Indians.

I totally agree with your sentiment but your argument is missing the social context of the country your are seeking a visa to. Here people are mostly independent and after an age neither the parents care for their children nor the children want/seek their parents help.(It would apply to 90% of the cases)
If you look at the current economic crisis, one common thread to most troubled stories is that they are single parents with no help from any one including their parents.
IO being insensitive to the realities of other societies is no surprise. As a Visa seeker we need to adjust to answer in a politically correct way.

In order to be able to win next time, we will need member strength. I know many of us have been toying with ideas to increase membership. I have started a separate thread to highlight the following idea - Every member bring one additional member to IV.
Specifically, these are the bullet points I suggest:
1. By December 31, each of you bring one member to IV.
If you really think about it, it is not a difficult task. Every one of us knows atleast one person stuck in GC process, that is talking conservatively. It takes less than 15 minutes to call one person and explain IVs efforts and request his/her support.
2. By January 15, each of us take responsibility to get the member we brought to IV to contribute to the cause. And I am not suggesting any particular amount.
3. Each of take responsibility in having them update their information on IV website, so that when the need arises, they can be contacted (for sending webfaxes etc. like last week).
Also, whenever you bring someone to IV, please post on 'Add ONE Member Campaign' thread (it will encourage others). I feel this approach will work, if we keep that thread alive, and try to stick to the time deadline (deadlines might not have worked before, because they were too long term).
So IV'ers, lets add ONE member, and get ONE contribution!!!!

Hi all,
My priority date is July 2003. After a long wait of 4 years, my case showed online "certified" on 07/17. My lawyer advised to prepare for all the documents for the I-140/I-485 stage.
But I am becoming very nervous after looking at a few responses here saying, it took over a month to get the hard copy by mail. Could anyone tell me the phone number for Dallas BEC to check on the status of the mail?

Only attorney/HR/your manager can call this center. You cannot call. But you will not get much useful information from them. You may receive ur hard copy in approx 17 days.

We could have done nothing to nominate McCain as president. We don't have voting rights. All we can do is express opinion.
Don't go overboard in blaming obama for this memo. Administration has nothing to do with a USCIS memo. Memo might have been poorly worded that's all. It has to be corrected. IV core is working on it.
Even though Obama and democrats are perceived as socialists, immigrant community would benefit more under democrats than GOP. Under GOP we would have remained in this limbo for years altogether. GOP cannot pass any favorable immigration bill even if they want to because of the anti-immigrant/racist supporters behind them.
IMO July fiasco (making everything current) was the side effect of CIR 2007. USCIS/DOS didn't do a mistake there. That was intentional move by DOS in anticipation of a passage of CIR. When they were sure that CIR won't pass, they reverted the bulletin back and rest is history. Who was behind CIR 2007 push ? Mainly democrats. McCain and Bush just gave the required support.
Who created AC21 ? Democrats.
Despite all the immaturity of Mr Change, we can only expect a relief from Democrats. If Mr Change continues his protectionist policies, America is going to lose in the long run. Earlier he realizes that, better for America.
Before judging IV core, try to become a Donor/work closely with IV core by emailing info@immigrationvoice.org. They work smarter than most of us can even imagine.
Disclaimer: I am not IV core member or even close to core. I am a Donor and happen to know IV core better because of that.
As EB immigrants, we are the unwanted foster kids....The left hates us (because of the unions and the Dems' leftist views) and the far right hates us all (including any kind of immigration because of their racism). The only hope is the middle ground politicians (be it left or right - people like Mccain, Graham, Clinton etc).

My wife's case was being reviewed by the Adjudicator due to error on part of USCIS in making a decision. The online status has just changed to post decision activity indicating
" We reopened this I765 APPLICATION FOR EMPLOYMENT AUTHORIZATION on November 16, 2010, and are now reviewing our earlier decision. We also mailed you a notice describing the next steps in the process. Please follow any instructions on this notice. Our review should be completed within 30 days. We will notify you by mail when we make a decision or if we need something from you"
Is it safe to assume that the case is approved? Any predictions on how long USCIS may take to get the EAD card?

Dont worry .. if this makes us Illegal or Criminal ..we are in good shape here in USA.
