I have already found out today, SS office refuse to issue non-work SSN to my children, they don't recognize that tax rebate is a benefit. Actually, the guy in SS office was very rude, he did not even allow me to state my reason, keep shouting "H4 can not get SSN"
We should make action together to fight for our right. Send emails and call your congressman and senator. Make IRS recognize this is a Federal benefit and if IRS can issue the letter, we should be able to get the SSN.

First time i went to canada for candian PR stamping. On the same day i returned. I had a current H1B stamp as well as AP. They did not let me in with H1B since i had 2 weeks more on it and did not care for H1B renewal notice. They made me wait for 4 hours and then checked my baggage ( 1 handbag and 1 plastic cover) through X ray and told me to open it afte X ray too. Atlast they stamped my AP and let me in
Second time i came from ATL. The non citizen line was short and i went to number 36 or 38 counter. The officer saw my AP and H1B Stamped during my visit. Took my picture and fingerprint and asked me why did you apply for GC. He did not do stamp my passport. Later he told me to go downstairs collect my bag. After collecting my bag and exiting the person at the exit told me to go to a another room where i have to give him the entire folder with AP, passport etc... I had to wait for 45 minutes and then the officer stamped my passport and asked me who is my employer and what are my job responsibilities. Then he let me go.

I think we should have some banners, posters up for and during the rally, for a bailout for highly skilled immigrants, again we are not asking for money,
We are asking for what is lawfully ours, lost green card numbers due to bureaucratic reasons. ( We should include this in our speeches and presentations)
Also all highly skilled immigrants should attend, this way they will be off for one day, and let our employers and congress feel the pinch.
No one will fire us for taking off one day.

what it says as i interpret is its back to initial review its not yet approved.
I understand your point but if that was truly the case then won't the status change to "Initial Review" and not to "Post Decision Activity". That said, since the case was denied (A Decision), one can always argue anything done after that is a Post Decision Activity.

For the people who wants to know what happened at Medical examination then here is my story.
Today me and my wife went to Concentra Medical center at Milwaukee, WI.
They didnt look at our ID but only asked for I-94. We gave our 797 form for current status check and I-94 both. Later Nurse took us to check our 1) Blood pressure 2) Pulse rate 3) did Skint test 4) took blood for HIV/STD testing. Nurse took around 15 minutes for each person.
Later Civil Sergeon came and started checking my body start with 1) hands 2) told me to jump for once 3) Raise each leg one at a time 4) Checked my Eyes, Ear, nose 5) Checked my heart beats and lungs from outside. Overall Civil Surgeon took 20 minutes for each of us.
Since I did not had any record of my earlier vaccination Nurse/Dr. Reccomend me to take Tetanus, MMR and Vaicella. For my wife Nurse recommend to take both Tetanus and MMR only.
Overall for Medical Examination it cost me $160 per person. Now I have option to take this vaccination at same center for Tetanus-$27, MMR-$67 and Varicell -$100.00 or I can call up County health center to get it done at cheaper rate.
Now Skin test result will come in 2 days. I can drop by on Thursday or Friday to know the result. If Skin test is positive then I/my wife both have to go for X-Ray which they charge $52 per person.
Overall it will cost me around $254(for my wife) and $354 for me to get this Medical paper signed and done. Hope above information will help others who are waiting to go for Medical examination.

In this session will the members who recently won sit in or wil the people who were previously in power get to sit and decide stuff?
Just wondering how good or "lame duck" this session really is going to be?
It is called lame duck because it does not consist of the newly elected representatives and as such the incumbents are expected to deal with unfinished business before the new congressional members step in. As you can see the incumbent members hold office only till end of the year i.e. before the new members step into Congress in January. Also this session is restricted to absolutely pressing issues on the legislative agenda. For more precise definitions, visit this link:

I think they come under EB1 category whose GC gets approved within a year. One of my friends is a Senior VP of a famous Financial Institution and he got a transfer from its Indian office to US. He applied for his GC (EB1) last October and got is Card in post last month. So I guess CEOs,VPs,CFOs can easily file under EB1.
since most of us on this site dont appear to be C-level executives, can we find some high profile names who are going through this situation? maybe new idea for a story - someone who came on a J visa and is now stuck in the I485 line. like CEO of a firm who was imported from another country. btw, how do they stay here after J visa - do they apply for gcs?
maybe a little naive, but is it worth contacting someone who is a household name and who would clearly champion our cause and ask them to be interviewed - bill gates comes to mind

Guys,
I just called Air India customer service to ask about Transit Visa requirement at Frankfurt.
The guy on the phone told me that the Transit Visa is not required at Frankfurt. I specifically asked him about Transit Visa requirement for people travelling on Advance Parole. He replied saying that in any case, Transit Visa is not required at Frankfurt.
I guess the information on Air India website is regarding the London Transit visa as the Air India flights were used to travel Via London till 5 years back.
And that information might not be updated in last 5 years.

and they (Fragomen) confirmed May 21st 2007 is not going to be the cutoff date, just because a bill is introduced on that day. Effective date will be decided later by USCIS at a later date due to implementation issues even after the president signs this bill into law.

During our Infopass appointment yesterday, we insisted on speaking with a supervisor. He was also no help. All he kept repeating was the case has been approved and the card was in production but he won't be able to issue a letter or an Interim EAD. USCIS has completely done away with those. No changes in status since the first CPO email. Looks like we are in for a long wait. At the moment, my wife can wave a buh' bye to this job and start looking around all over again...it is extremely disappointing.

Anyways, I don't expect the card coming my way atleast in the next 2-3 weeks. US citizens will not care about the increase in h1b fees as it does not affect them.......no amount of lobbying will help as the senate has passed the same bill earlier and will have no reason not to pass it again in sept.....moreover both the house and senate are not voting instead its a unanimous vote......The $2000 increase is here to stay.....Lets move on.

......A receipt notice, whether it comes tommorow or in October, has only one purpose: That they received your application and accepted your money. Nothing beyond that....
Please also consider the fact that there are some of us who have to file EAD after we get the 485 receipt. Our lawyers/companies didnt file EAD with 485.
